The Giving Tree 2022
This year’s Giving Tree is a unique design conceptualized by the internationally renowned and locally based artist known as Porkchop and brought to life in collaboration with Asbury Park artist Bradley Hoffer. It is a physical embodiment of the artists’ idea of the “comfort and warmth of the home.” Inspired by the historic architecture that makes Asbury Park so special, the first and third layers of the tree offer a nod to the eyebrow window of yesteryear, a dormer traditionally found on historic homes that invites light into dark spaces. In the 2022 Giving Tree, these dormers were inversely designed to let light out, sharing the tree’s warmth with the community. Based on community suggestions, the artists incorporated light into this year’s design by adding a layer of interfacing to allow a warm candle-like glow to emanate from the inside of the tree. The second and fourth layers were inspired by the divine perfection of individual snowflakes. In nature, each snowflake has an intricate uniqueness that sets it apart from all others, something the artists believe represents the distinctive community and culture that make people proud to call Asbury Park their home.
The Inaugural Asbury Park Holiday Toy Drive
Final Weekend to Participate!
Just as the tree reflects the spirit of warmth and giving, in partnership with Community Karma and the Kiwanas Club of Asbury Park, the Asbury Park Boardwalk will support the relaunch of the Asbury Park Holiday Toy Drive on Thanksgiving weekend this year. Originally started by Connie Breech and her team, the Asbury Park Toy Drive was a 20-year tradition that has been on a hiatus until Community Karma and Kiwanas Club joined forces to bring it back. Working directly with both public and charter Asbury Park schools, the organizations plan to identify as many as 150 families in need, working together to provide gifts for each child as well as gift cards and other amenities for each family.
To participate, visitors are encouraged to visit the Boardwalk and drop off new unwrapped toys or donations during the Asbury Park Holiday Bazaar this Saturday, December 10th and Sunday, December 11th from 12-5PM under the Convention Center Marquee in Convention Hall. As part of the drive, anyone who brings a toy or makes a donation during the bazaar hours will be able to visit with Santa and take pictures.
The Giving Tables
The Giving Tables, located at the base of the Giving Tree, are our giveback pop-up shop where shoppers can do their holiday shopping while supporting local organizations that give back to our community. Participating organizations include:

Asbury Park Bazaar Returns Staring Black Friday
The Asbury Park Bazaar is kicking off this Friday, November 25th, and will run every Saturday and Sunday November 26th-December 18th 12-5pm. Shop your favorite local vendors, take a selfie, enjoy food specials and live music every weekend 1-4pm:

Community Tree Contest
Due to the success of the cardboard sculpture, “The Giving Tree”, created by local artists, Bradly Hoffer and Porkchop, we gave our tenants the opportunity to create their own holiday tree. The trees can be created from any materials, including but not limited to recycled or re-appropriated items/materials. In the spirit of giving, there will be a charitable prize for the winners of this friendly competition, which can be given to a local, non-profit of their choice.
Participating tenants included: Betty’s Icebox, Langosta lounge, and Fun House.
Trees will be on view in the Grand Arcade through December 25th.
Brunch with Santa at Tim McLoone’s Supper Club
