Since the start of his career, New York-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, artist and actor Jesse McCartney has built a catalog of instantly recognizable anthems and captivated audiences on the road and on-screen. His first three albums—the Platinum Beautiful Soul [2004], Right Where You Want Me [2006], and Departure [2008]—consecutively bowed in the
Top 15 of the Billboard Top 200 with the singles “Beautiful Soul” minted Gold and “Leavin’” certified Platinum. Plus, he collaborated with T-Pain on the cross-genre banger “Body Language.” Meanwhile, SPIN touted In Technicolor among its “Top 20 Pop Albums of 2014.” Along the way, he performed in arenas alongside the likes of New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys in addition to packing global headline tours and hosting shows for both George W. Bush and Barack Obama. A sought-after songwriter, he notably wrote the 4x-Platinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated “Bleeding Love” for Leona Lewis.

In 2018, the one-off single “Better With You” racked up nearly 30 million cumulative streams and paved the way for his fifth offering. Simultaneously, his acting credits grew to include everything from Chernobyl Diaries and Fear The Walking Dead to Alvin and the Chipmunks, and even voicing the character Roxas/Ventus in gamer favorite Kingdom Hearts. In 2020, Jesse was revealed as the runner-up and popular fan favorite Turtle in the third season finale of Fox’s The Masked Singer. Now, he opens up more than ever on his fifth full-length album New Stage, due out later this year. His second single “Friends,” an homage to the people who became chosen family, followed the release of “Yours” in 2020, an introspective look at the different roles he’s played throughout his life. Then there’s “Kiss The World Goodbye,” the third release from the forthcoming album. Soft piano gives way to an impressive vocal performance. Handclaps build towards a heavenly hook
inspired by his future wife. As he notes, it catalogs a “Bonnie and Clyde moment about me and my lady ready to take on anything and everything. At this point in my life everything feels like it’s
clicking into place. I’m looking forward to a whole new stage.”

    Event Details

    The Foes of Fern

The Foes of Fern are a band of non-stop fun and gritty gracefulness; a troupe of eclectic musicians from New Jersey setting the record straight, left, right, and upside down.

Marrying drums, bass, guitar, tuba, ukulele, sax, trumpet, trombone and other wandering minstrels, the Foes carve out a segment in the music industry like a voluminous, awesome boulder. Their music is hypnotic and gang-busting in every sense, initiating you as part of the tribe upon first down-beat. A wall of sound thriving through each new moment on stage, feeling like the spontaneity of Hendrix while maintaining the rehearsed specialties in parts and orchestration reminiscent of the Beatles.

Better yet, the Foes are friends and they like it that way. In one swaying unit, they throw caution and attention to the wind all at once. They extend drama, cracking jokes on stage and taking turns describing their passion with spotlight solos and inciting coalition sing-along choruses. All hands on deck, all mouths on the mic.

Live shows with the Foes are a multi-instrumental face-melt sandwich. Your Fitbit is going to be off the charts from all the bopping, skanking, and singing along to this truly electric construct of sound. The Foes are the good time you can see coming from a mile away.

Foes leading man and guitarist Matthew Fernicola (Fern) created the Foes of Fern after five years in his first band, Airacuda. In stride with the early conception of the Foes, Fern cofounded all-star band, The Burns, which ultimately came to a close in 2019. Continuing to garner attention in the musical town of Asbury Park, NJ (home of the legendary Stone Pony and Sea.Here.Now Festival), Fern took the Foes to Grammy-winning engineer, Joe Pomarico, at Telegraph Hill Records. The team has crafted a gift that keeps on giving, with recordings complex in instrumentation that require multiple listens to catch every nuance. Under the audio-guise of misfit toys, they are the ignition of energy, theory, composition, rule-breaking, and friend-making.

In April 2018, the Foes single April Came in the Rain marked the first release of eleven tracks in the queue for their debut full-length record, Carpe Diem, set to launch August 28th 2020 at The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ. Title track, Carpe Diem, and song, Ghosts, occupy a unique interdependence and have been saved for the finale. The love-song substance of Carpe Diem, leads way to Ghosts’expression of the difficulty yet goodness of moving on from satisfactory love toward an even greater self-discovery. The Foes tell stories, speak emotion, cry truths, and make hearts sings; welcome to The Foes of Fern.

“Creating one sound, together. That’s what I love about music.” – (Fern)

    Michigan Rattlers
    with Dark City Strings

Lifelong friends and deep-north natives, Michigan Rattlers play heavy-hearted folk-rock with an aching dose of Midwestern nice. Graham Young (lead vocals/guitar), Adam Reed (vocals/upright bass), Christian Wilder (vocals/piano) and Tony Audia (drums) began writing music and performing together in their Northern Michigan high school. They regularly played every bar, cafe and stage in town, developing a musical chemistry informed by the likes of AC/DC, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Seger and more.

After a few years apart, Reed and Young settled down in Los Angeles, recorded a short demo, and began  laying locally. The demo found its way in the hands of super-producer Johnny K, and they cut the bulk of their first EP at NRG studios in just one day. This self-titled Michigan Rattlers EP attracted glowing reviews from No Depression, Bluegrass Situation, Relix, Glide, Grammy.com and more. Rolling Stone named the band one of their “Ten New Country Artists You Need To Know.” In 2018, following a massive summer tour that included stops at Bonnaroo, Firefly and Electric Forest; the band released their highly anticipated debut full length album, Evergreen, and added pianist Christian Wilder and drummer Tony Audia to their lineup. The Michigan Rattlers are currently in the studio recording their second full length album in between tour dates.

Four years after going on hiatus, Jimkata is back with a renewed sense of purpose and an extraordinary new album. Recorded in Syracuse with producer Jason Randall, Bonfires finds the trio digging deep and stretching their boundaries with bold, intoxicating arrangements fueled by swirling synthesizers and anthemic hooks. The songs here are at once modern and classic, blurring the lines between the organic and the electronic as they reckon with doubt, struggle, and perseverance in a search for truth and meaning. Like much of Jimkata’s catalog, Bonfires delivers transcendence in tight, dancefloor-ready packages, but there’s a sense of freedom at play that pushes the trio’s performances to new emotional heights, a kind of liberation that can only come from learning to let go of expectation and embrace the moment.

“I think the time away brought us all more maturity, more patience, an ability to see the bigger picture,” says singer/guitarist Evan Friedell. “We all gained a lot of perspective on life and the value of being in a band together.”

Indeed, the heart and soul of Jimkata has always been the enduring bonds between Friedell and his longtime bandmates, guitarist/keyboardist Aaron Gorsch and drummer Packy Lunn. Pals since middle school, the three launched Jimkata in 2005 while attending Ithaca College, where they quickly found an audience for their relentlessly feel-good performances, which grew from local house parties to club, theater, and festival dates on the strength of a series of critically acclaimed albums. Popdose hailed the band’s “bubbly sweetness,” while American Songwriter praised their “organic chemistry,” and Relix raved that the trio’s sound “proves that rock-based music still has a place in the world of four-on-the-floor beats.”

Spend A Summer Night with WILLIE NILE and his great band when they return to the Wonder Bar, Asbury Park!

Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Townsend, Lucinda Williams, Jim Jarmusch, Lou Reed and Little Steven are among those who have sung his praises. His 2013 album, American Ride, won “Best Rock Album of the Year” at the Independent Music Awards. It appeared on over one hundred year-end Top Ten lists and Bono called it, “One of the great guides to unraveling the mystery that is the troubled beauty of America.”

In November 2014, he released an album of piano-based songs, If I Was A River, to critical acclaim. “One of the most brilliant singer-songwriters of the past thirty years” said The New Yorker. No Depression raved “Willie Nile’s artistic renaissance continues unabated.”

His 2016 album World War Willie appeared on numerous year end top ten lists as did hid his live shows. As American Songwriter said, “Nile cranks up the volume and tears into these tunes with the same hunger, passion and exuberance he displays in his legendary sweat-soaked shows. World War Willie was voted “Album Of The Year” by Twangville Magazine and the song “Forever Wild” was named “Coolest Song In The World” by Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

Willie has toured across the U.S. with The Who and has sung with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. As the induction program from the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame says: “His live performances are legendary.” His latest studio album, The Day the Earth Stood Still was released in 2021 to universal acclaim. He is currently bringing his dynamic live show and amazing rock and roll band to enraptured audiences worldwide.

In the time since 2015, Flipturn has mushroomed to reaches far beyond the walls of the Fernandina Beach garage they first practiced in. Built up by Dillon Basse (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Tristan Duncan (lead guitar), Madeline Jarman (bass), Mitch Fountain (synth), and Devon VonBalson (drums), the band is walking proof that the DIY approach is still alive and well in the modern music world. With over 40 million streams on Spotify alone, countless sold out shows across the US, and tours with Mt. Joy, Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Wilderado, the band has a lead foot on the gas pedal. This year will see Flipturn joining the prestigious lineups of Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, SXSW, Hangout, Sunfest, and Treefort. Fans can also look forward to the band’s upcoming debut album and more shows to be announced.

    Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers

For 41 years publications such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, Village Voice, No Depression and many others have hailed him as one of rock & roll’s most talented singer-songwriters.

For over 40 years, Joe Grushecky and his bandmates have been the epitome of blue-collar roots-rock & roll. Born in the coal mining hills surrounding Pittsburgh, Pa., Joe has cut a path of devastatingly honest shows from Pittsburgh to Asbury Park! In the musical tradition of artists like Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers (and before that the Iron City Houserockers) have been making American blue-collar rock that draws from classic rock ‘n roll, Memphis soul, folk songs, electric blues plus a dash of punk, since 1979 when he recorded and released his first album, Love’s So Tough. Albums such as Have A Good Time But Get Out Alive, the classic American Babylon (Produced and joined on the subsequent tour by Bruce Springsteen), East Carson Street, the stunning Somewhere East of Eden, It’s In My Song, More Todays than Yesterdays and the very passionate protest anthem “That’s What Makes Us Great” (again in collaboration with Springsteen) are just a sample of the numerous recordings that present Joe’s very singular, “down home” take on “living, working, family, politics and loving” in America. “In a better world, Joe Grushecky would live in a mansion down the road from Springsteen….Who do you know who has made back-to-back great albums more than 20 years ago and is doing the same thing now. There’s Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Neil Young, Springsteen, maybe a few more. He’s on that level.” Joe’s music and his band have certainly stood the test of time.

    MAE: ‘The Everglow’ Anniversary

From the moment of their inception, MAE have existed in the cross-sectional spaces of creation. Art and innovation. Intricacy and accessibility. Beauty and chaos. Head and heart. Theirs was a meticulous crafting of soundscapes; painstakingly deliberate and blissfully spontaneous.
This multidimensional juxtaposition formed the friction point that sparked the creation of their now-classic early releases (2003’s Destination: Beautiful and 2005’s The Everglow), as well as the flame that guided their continued exploration throughout the ensuing decade (Capitol debut, Singularity, and the self-released Morning, Afternoon and Evening EPs). Attempts to categorize the band’s sound were made regularly and typically culminated in a hyphenated variation of the nebulous “emo” catch-all. But, the defining thread of MAE’s creation was their uncanny ability to find the heartstrings of the listener and make them resonate with a sympathetic hum.
“When we tour again and tell a new story, we have opportunities we’ve never even considered, even though the band has been called Multisensory Aesthetic Experience for a long time and put out so many releases,” Elkins says.
“You have to meet people where they are instead of asking people to come back to where they’ve been. It’s a theme to the album: Keep moving forward. It’s another reason why the band is doing this. When there’s growth and everything feels new, it’s harder and harder to do that. But it’s always possible. If you keep up with that growth, how can you not have your expectations and mind blown?”

    An Evening with Umphrey’s McGee

Singer-guitarist Brendan Bayliss had just landed in Los Angeles after a flight from Chicago, expecting to start a West Coast tour with Umphrey’s McGee, when he found a text on his phone. It basically said, “You’re going home.”

Keyboard player Joel Cummins, who lives in L.A., was in San Diego, squeezing in some golf before the shows, when his phone lit up. And guitarist Jake Cinninger was at his home studio in Niles, Michigan – across the state line from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, birthplace of Umphrey’s McGee – about to leave for the airport when he got the news.

It was March, 2020 – the first shock and whiplash of pandemic lockdown. After 22 years on the road and a dozen ambitious and eclectic studio albums, including the 2004 breakthrough Anchor Drops, 2009’s prog-rock trip Mantis and 2015’s The London Session, recorded in a single day at Abbey Road, Umphrey’s McGee – Bayliss, Cummins, Cinninger, bassist Ryan Stasik, drummer Kris Myers and percussionist Andy Farag – were grounded until further notice.

“I remember almost vibrating, like an anxiety attack,” Cinninger says now. “We were always in motion, going forward. It’s weird when that stops on a dime.” Cummins sat in his house, “just beside myself,” he says, “because I didn’t know when I would play music with my friends again.”

“Everyone was guilty of taking a couple of weeks, just staring at the sky,” Bayliss says. “Then you run out of excuses to not do anything.” Emails flew back and forth “with ideas and chord progressions” as Bayliss, stuck at home, worked on lyrics for a pair of songs already underway: “Always October,” an anxious meditation with a jolting chorus, started at a Nashville session in the fall of 2019; and the helplessness in “I Don’t Know What I Want,” a combined reflection on solitary confinement and heavy, personal loss. In June, 2019, Bayliss’ friend Jeff Austin, the former mandolinist in Yonder Mountain String Band, died unexpectedly. “I’m only looking for an antidote,” Bayliss wrote in the song. “What if I’m only asking for a friend?”

“I was thinking about a friend that I couldn’t help,” he admits, adding, “There’s something to be said for speaking your mind. If it’s a true emotion, it’s something everyone can feel: ‘Why is this happening to me?'” — David Fricke

    GOODNIGHT, TEXAS
    plus Jarrod Dickenson

Conventional wisdom says the two front men of a band shouldn’t live on opposite sides of the United States, but that’s never seemed to deter Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf. Goodnight, Texas is a tough-to-define storytelling folk rock band whose strength lies in unexpected sweet spots. Drawing their name from Pat and Avi’s onetime geographic midpoint (the real town of Goodnight in the State of Texas, a tiny hamlet east of Amarillo directly betwixt San Francisco, CA and Chapel Hill, NC), the five-piece band also exists at the center of its songwriters’ contrasting styles — via a 1913 Gibson A mandolin and a 2015 Danelectro Baritone Guitar, at the crossroads of folk and blues and rock ‘n’ roll, in a place where dry wit and dark truths meet hope and utmost sincerity.

    Counting Crows: Butter Miracle Tour

Counting Crows have enchanted listeners worldwide for more than two decades with their intensely soulful and intricate take on timeless rock & roll. Exploding onto the music scene in 1993 with their multi-platinum breakout album, August and Everything After, the band has gone on to release seven studio albums, selling more than 20 million records worldwide, and is revered as one of the world’s most pre-eminent live touring rock bands. In 2004, Counting Crows recorded the chart-topping “Accidently in Love” for the animated motion picture Shrek 2. The instant success of the track earned them an Academy Award nomination for “Best Original Song” at the 2005 Academy Awards, a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Original Song,” and a GRAMMY Award nomination for “Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.” Over the last 30 years, the masterful songwriting from frontman Adam Duritz put the band at No.8 on Billboard Magazine’s 2021 “Greatest Of All Time: Adult Alternative 25th Anniversary Chart.” The band released their newest record, Butter Miracle, featuring hit single “Elevator Boots” in April of 2021.

    LITTLE STRANGER

Born and raised in Philly, crash landed in Charleston, Kevin and John Shields are breaking into previously uncharted waters with their quirky indie hip-hop group, Little Stranger. Between John’s melodic singer-songwriter magnetism, Kevin’s in-your-face delivery, and an overall undeniable groove, this duo is sure to get any audience up and moving. Stylistically reminiscent of Gorillaz and Odelay-era Beck, Little Stranger delivers a fresh take on melodic hip-hop. Every track brings the uniqueness and strangeness that their name implies.

For the past few years, the duo has perfected their live performance by playing over 100 shows per year prior to the coronavirus shutdown. The group also puts a big focus on creating arresting visual experiences through their music videos, their own eccentric television program (LSTV), and in-house graphics. Between their out-of-the-box creative endeavors and an ever-increasing arsenal of new tunes, Little Stranger is poised to make 2022 another slam dunk.

Andrew McMahon in The Wilderness & Dashboard Confessional
    Hello Gone Days Tour 2022
    with Armor for Sleep

Raised on the East Coast and in the Midwest, McMahon began writing songs at age 9, drawing inspiration from singer/songwriter/pianists such as Elton John and Billy Joel. While still in high school, McMahon co-founded an early incarnation of pop-punk band Something Corporate, whose 2002 major-label debut hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart. In 2004, he formed Jack’s Mannequin and then on the cusp of releasing the band’s 2005 debut was diagnosed with leukemia at age 22. Eventually fully recovered, McMahon went on to release two more studio albums with Jack’s Mannequin and established The Dear Jack Foundation, one of the first Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) specific cancer foundations which advocates for and supports initiatives that benefit AYAs diagnosed with cancer. In addition, McMahon composed songs for the NBC series Smash which earned him an Emmy nomination. In 2014, he released Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness which featured the gold certified single “Cecilia and the Satellite.” Last year he released his memoir, Three Pianos. McMahon lives in Los Angeles with his wife of 12 years Kelly and their daughter Cecilia, for whom the hit song was penned.

Dashboard Confessional’s ninth studio album, All The Truth That I Can Tell, is both a remarkable renewal and fortunate step forward for the band’s songwriter, front man, and founder, Chris Carrabba. Having ascended great heights over the past 20 years, Carrabba found himself at a distinct crossroads as the last decade came to an end. Running on fumes, unsure if he’d ever release another album, he waited. The songs eventually came, and though the project might’ve easily come to a screeching halt following a near-fatal motorcycle accident in the summer of 2020, All The Truth That I Can Tell stands among Carrabba’s finest – a strikingly potent musical look at himself through a rediscovered keyhole, both an achievement of vision and a vital burst of artistic clarity; less like reading someone’s diary and more like reading their eyes.

    Lights, Camera, Factions Tour
with support from The Goon Sax

Interpol began in New York in 1997, when guitarist Daniel Kessler recruited bassist Carlos Dengler and singer/guitarist Paul Banks to form a band. In 2002, with Sam Fogarino on drums, the band signed to Matador records and released Turn On The Bright Lights, which made it to 10th position on NME’s list of 2002’s top releases and Pitchfork named it the year’s #1 album. Over the next decade and a half Interpol would go on to wide critical and commercial acclaim, with five subsequent high charting records on the Billboard 200; earning rave reviews across the map from Rolling Stone to TIME; performing on late night television shows and playing major festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury and headlining Mexico’s Corona Capital. The band (Banks, Kessler and Fogarino) have just finished recording their latest studio album with legendary production duo Flood & Moulder, due for release this year through Matador Records.

Spoon’s tenth album, Lucifer on the Sofa, is the band’s purest rock ’n’ roll record to date. Texas-made, it is the first set of songs that the quintet has put to tape in its hometown of Austin in more than a decade. Written and recorded over the last two years – both in and out of lockdown – these songs mark a shift toward something louder, wilder, and more full-color. Halfway through the recording process, the pandemic hit. The studio shutdown, but frontman Britt Daniel continued writing. “There are songs I wrote last spring [of 2020] that I wouldn’t have come up with otherwise,” he says. “It was that first-of-its-kind moment.” Lucifer on the Sofa is the sound of that moment, a record of defiant optimism, the sound of a band cracking things open and letting them spillout onstage. At a time fraught with uncertainty, it’s shutting the door on the devil you know and never looking back.

    Almost Queen (Queen Tribute)

It’s been described as the most authentic Queen live show since the days of Queen themselves. Almost Queen delivers a live performance showcasing signature four-part harmonies and intricate musical interludes. Donning genuine costumes, Almost Queen recaptures the live energy and precision that is the ultimate Queen experience.

“I am a very big Queen fan and Almost Queen does a great job of creating the illusion of actually seeing Queen live. We all miss Freddie Mercury, I feel the band pays tribute to him and Queen respectfully.” – Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister)

“I had heard a lot of great things about these guys, but the show was even better than I imagined.” – Randy Jackson

“Without a doubt, Almost Queen are probably the finest testimonial to Queen I have ever had the pleasure in seeing. If Freddie were alive today he’d queue for tickets!” – Eric Cook, Demolition Records

“Almost Queen proved that they are the best Queen tribute act around. Almost Queen captured the essence of Queen’s classic songs both from a sonic and lyric standpoint. Their show was high-energy and fun, and they are worth checking out in a live setting.” – Digital Journal
