The newly redeveloped/reimagined Fifth Avenue Pavilion (1200 Ocean Avenue) on the Asbury Park Boardwalk is proud to announce an exciting new coastal cuisine restaurant, Iron Whale.
Iron Whale plans on an opening in October of 2018 and will feature true crave-worthy waterfront favorites, such as steamers and lobster as well as specialty options unique to Iron Whale, created by Executive Chef Michael Dolan.
The designers for Iron Whale are mother-daughter team, Terry Gierlatowicz and Sydney Mauhs of TSG Design. The upscale and inviting waterfront space will feature an open kitchen concept viewable from the bar, a stunning fireplace, indoor seating to accommodate 130 people (additional 34 at the bar), and an outdoor boardwalk dining space to accommodate approximately 85-100 guests.
Iron Whale not only looks to fill a desire for seafood and more on the waterfront, but to provide fine amenities in an open and charming environment, consistent with the spirit of Asbury Park. Executive Chef Michael Dolan states, “It is such a pleasure working in a restaurant on the water. I also think our proximity to the ocean demands that we seek out the freshest, local seafood and the beauty of the interiors challenges us to come up with creative, beautiful plate presentations. At the Iron Whale, the food will compete daily with the surroundings to excite and captivate our clientele.”
Iron Whale will be part of the newly redeveloped 5th Avenue Pavilion. The stunning 5th Avenue Pavilion is reintroducing a re-imagined version of the building’s original bandshell on the upper level, as well as diverse retail and restaurant offerings at the boardwalk level. The boardwalk level will feature the highly-anticipated Iron Whale as well as dynamic retail offerings.
Madison Marquette, the Asbury Park Boardwalk developer, is excited for the addition of Iron Whale to the waterfront offerings. From the outset, Madison Marquette’s vision has been to honor Asbury’s history while creating a waterfront experience unlike any other. In the curation of retail and dining, in the past ten years, the Asbury Park Boardwalk has been reimagined into a thriving, year-round destination with premier and diverse entertainment and over 40 unique retail and restaurant tenants, many of which are locally owned, operated and staffed. Iron Whale is an exciting part of that curation in continuing to deliver a vibrant and compelling experience on the boardwalk.
