Job Title: General Manager, Convention Hall
Work Status: Full Time, Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: Seeking a General Manager with a focus on customer service and entrepreneurial spirit to manage bar and restaurant operations both inside and outside at the legendary Convention Hall located on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
REPORTING: Reports to Director of Operations
Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain high standards of customer service for staff, customers, and vendors.
Oversee food and beverage and merchandise (point of sale, menu, variety, etc.)
Hires, trains and schedules full and part-time employees, and work closely with all subcontractors and/or third-party vendors. Partnering with HR for hires.
Control purchases and inventory by meeting with suppliers, prepare inventories as required and implement system improvements where necessary.
Manage calendar for booking events and entertainment.
Attract patrons by developing and implementing marketing, public and community relation programs.
Promote and establish "rental" events in the venue.
Excellent working knowledge of Health & Safety best practices and New Jersey Alcohol Beverage Control handbook
Implements and complies with the companies' audit procedures and controls.
Ensures that the employee’s performance is monitored and reviewed accordingly.
Day to day management of all venue vendors/subcontractors – HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscaping, Cleaning, Trash/Recycling working with property management.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge of emerging trends in the food and beverage industry.
Any other reasonable duties as required by the executive management.
Desired Qualifications:
A Minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree (4-year) in Business Management or related field
Five years comparable business management work experience including previous supervisory role.
Positive attitude, self-motivation
Experience using MICROS.
Strong Computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
