Get ready to dance the night away with the high energy sound of GSL entertainment DJ Greg Nice and some dynamic moves taught by dance instructor Piper Williams.  The crowd reaction dictates the music — Celia Cruz versus Gloria Gaynor, Mark Anthony versus the Village People. Piper Williams will be teaching the iconic Brooklyn shuffle line dance inspired by the legendary film Saturday Night Fever at 7 PM, followed by DJ Greg spinning a dazzling mix of Latin Beats and disco classic that will keep you on your feet all night long. The Wonder Jam ran on Sundays at the Wonder Bar for about 10 years, bringing together the Asbury Park jam band scene. Sandy Mack hosted fun matinee shows with a rotating house band and lots of guest musicians. Join us for this special Wonder Jam bringing together many of the wonderful musicians who made Wonder Jams so much fun!

Traveling Feet US Tour

A regular on the London music scene and darling of Sofar Sounds, Grammy nominated artist Rose Betts toured the UK in 2017, self released her first EP The Stars Look Down and in 2021 she featured as part of Zack Snyder’s Justice League soundtrack album in which she performs her cover of ‘Song To The Siren.’ In 2022 she signed to Warner Chappell and released her debut album ‘White Orchids’ which included her viral single ‘Driving Myself Home’. Her songs have had major TV placements, including Greys Anatomy, New Amsterdam and Legacies. She is continuing to blur the lines of conventionality through her collaborations with art, film, theatre and virtual technology.

With the release of its debut LP, Welcome to Florida, Artikal Sound System defines its daring and eclectic, alt rock-reggae, R&B inflected sound. Fronted by the vibrant sun-kissed chanteuse Logan Rex, and flanked by accomplished instrumentalists Chris Montague (guitar), Fabian Acuna (bass), Christopher Cope (keyboards) and Adam Kampf (drums), this colorful South Florida ensemble carves out the slinkiest of rhythms amongst deep grooves and evocative lyrics. The group delivered a slew of scintillating turns onstage, appearing with an array of talent including dates with Stephen Marley, festivals with Slightly Stoopid, a national fall tour with Iration, and a guest appearance with Andy Frasco, not to mention a signature headlining run. As their latest single featuring up-and-coming alt hip-hop duo, Little Stranger, continues to make noise in tastemaker circles, A.S.S enters the studio to begin production on their forthcoming LP slated for release this year.

High energy blues rockers BWB are a “blues band,” but they bring so much more to every live show. Join us at the Wonder Bar for a night of contagious singing and dancing with the Billy Walton Band.

Billy Walton is an accomplished guitar master from the vibrant New Jersey Shore music scene. He earned his stripes in the rock & roll trenches, playing lead guitar for many years with Jersey icon, Southside Johnny. He has also shared the stage with music legends Little Steven, Gary US Bonds and Steven Tyler, to name a few.

The Billy Walton Band grew out of this rich musical heritage, and found its groove when Billy connected with bassist William Paris. With the addition of Tom Petraccaro on sax, Eric Safka on Hammond B3, Bruce Krywinski Jr on trumpet, Destinee Monroe guitar/vocals and Shane Luckenbough on drums. Their efforts met with immediate interest from the fertile British blues scene, leading to multiple successful tours across Europe and eastern United States. They have a solid, dedicated fan base which is growing quickly. In addition to blues rock fans, the jam band scene has also embraced the band -– hungry for their high energy live shows.

ALL NIGHT BOOGIE BAND

All Night Boogie Band is a blues, rock & roll, and soul-inspired band hailing from the Green Mountains of Burlington, Vermont. Formed in late 2021, the young yet experienced quintet expresses a unique sound full of originality, vigor, and dedication to the resonance of great American music.

All Night Boogie Band won “Vermont Rising Stars” in the 2023 New England Music Awards and were nominated for “Best Blues Artist” in the 2023 Seven Daysies Awards. They were featured as a Relix Magazine “Artist on the Rise” in their July 2022 Edition, won Vermont’s 2023 Blues Challenge, and were Semifinalists at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee in January 2023.

Seven Days (VT’s Weekly) described their 2022 debut single “A Woman Like I” as “A six-minute-plus blast of blues and soul, the track reveals a shocking amount of authenticity for such a young band. Massive, soulful vocals; big horns; and a powerfully tight rhythm section combine to create a huge blues sound.”

Their 2022 debut album “Taste These Blues” was also reviewed by Seven Days: “The young Burlington band has put out a record brimming with love for the blues, as well as hints of jazz and soul music. Taste These Blues, the band’s debut, showcases guitarist Brendan Casey’s strong and studious songwriting and lead singer Jessica Leone’s powerful, soulful vocals. Over eight tracks, the band showcases impressive instrumental prowess but also hints at a strong live show. It’s a compelling debut, full of character and promise.”

Their 2nd LP titled “Angel of the Airwaves”, was released on August 3rd, 2023. Seven Days says, “With their second LP, Angel of the Airwaves, All Night Boogie Band have lived up to the promise of their debut. The group has delivered a versatile record that remains steeped in its blues roots while pursuing new stylistic frontiers with which Taste These Blues merely flirted.”

Nectar’s Presents Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes

If luck is what happens when hard work meets opportunity, the union of Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes epitomizes that adage. The New Mastersounds’ guitarist and bandleader has a knack for leaning into individual strengths and that sensibility is evidenced through his recruitment of Mississippi-based guitarist and vocalist, Shelby Kemp, who brings a Southern rock grit and candid, nimble songwriting to team up with the Tampa Bay-based Galbraith sisters who possess a simpatico rhythm section chemistry only found within a family bloodline. Powered by the urbane guitar playing and production of Roberts and you have a new tour de force ensemble that makes listeners stop in their tracks the same way Roberts did upon hearing the talents of Kemp and the Galbraith Sisters. The quartet first teamed up to perform Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom’s 20th Anniversary party in Denver, CO, and recorded a full-length record at Color Red Studios the next day to further solidify the newly forged musical connection. The sound is an amalgamation of celebrated country lyricists such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and George Jones mixed with the rhythmically driven aesthetics of James Brown and rounded out by honest rock ‘n’ roll—a combination slated to make its own luck and take the scene by storm.

Asbury Park’s own The Break Plans return to the Wonder Bar for a special release event for their new EP Mistakes are a Friend of Mine. The Brothers Union and Above the Moon open the show.

Praised for their “anthemic pop sensibility,” The Break Plans blend retro ’90s indie-pop with contemporary influences and create music that feels timeless yet refreshingly current. Fronted by the versatile vocals of Colton Braun and flanked by guitarist Mikey Strawz and drummer Dan Carr, the trio has carved out a signature style of shimmering pop anthems that resonate for their blunt honesty, universal themes, and upbeat rhythms.

Sci-fi fusion trio Consider the Source defy easy categorization. If intergalactic energy beings, upon their initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built a pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine powered by psychedelic math…it would sound like a cut-rate CTS cover band. With their blend of progressive rock and improvisatory jazz, soaked in Indian and Middle Eastern styles, CTS blends disparate elements into an utterly original whole. A relentless touring schedule has earned them a fervent following around the world, with fans ranging from tie dye covered hippies to metalheads decked out in black.

CTS have performed in a half-dozen countries across three continents. They have shared the stage with a wide variety of artists, including: Victor Wooten, King Crimson Projekt, Wyclef Jean, Ozric Tentacles, Soulive, The Disco Biscuits, Papadosio, Turkuaz, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Wayne Krantz, TAUK, Spafford and many others. JaRon Marshall (of Black Pumas), is an accomplished American artist hailing from Austin, Texas, who skillfully fuses elements of jazz and R&B to his compositions, “bringing futuristic vibes to soul music” as mentioned on BET. After launching his first album earth sounds, JaRon Marshall embarked on a tour across North America and Europe, showcasing his talent at prestigious venues and festivals including Winter Jazzfest in New York City, Montreal International Jazz Festival, LEVITATION/Austin Psych Fest, Jazz sur son 31 festival in Toulouse, SXSW, The Sugar Club (Dublin), Ronnie Scott’s (London), National History Museum (Los Angeles) and many more. JaRon Marshall has shared the stage with esteemed artists like Vieux Farka Touré and Tigran Hamasyan, and has collaborated with Black Pumas since 2019 as the keyboardist and a co-composer (“Mrs. Postman” is his latest songwriting credit), Adrian Quesada, Béesau (French trumpeter known for his COLORS show), BLK ODYSSY. With regular spins on influential radios like NPR, FIP / Radio France, CBC/Radio-Canada, TSF Jazz, JaRon Marshall’s solo project is meant to transcend genres and borders for a lifetime.

GREG KOCH
featuring THE KOCH MARSHALL TRIO

Milwaukee native Greg Koch has forged a successful career as “a guitar player’s guitarist.” He is not only a fiercely creative player with a whole trick bag of impressive techniques, ranging from Albert Lee chicken-pickin’ to Albert King string-bending to all-out Hendrixian abandon, he is also is a clinician for Fishman Transducers and his wildly popular “guitar test drive” videos (4,000 to date) for Wildwood Guitars of Louisville, Colorado have generated 50 million views. Koch also has a signature axe which was released in 2019 by Reverend Guitars, named the Greg Koch Signature Gristlemaster. The guitar colors were given somewhat humorous names like: Kochwork Orange, and Blucifer. He is also a best-selling method book author and video instructor for music publisher Hal Leonard and a contributing columnist for a variety of guitar magazines including Guitar Player. Guitar great Steve Vai, who released Koch’s 2001 album The Grip on his own Favored Nations label, heaped praise on his fellow guitarist: “Greg Koch is one of those rare guitarists that can blend various styles with a light-hearted approach and a tremendous amount of technique. Hearing him play is inspiring to a guitar player to try to achieve greatness on the instrument.”

MASHALL CRENSHAW: 40+ YEARS IN SHOWBIZ

Born in 1953 in Detroit, Marshall Crenshaw learned to tune a guitar at age 10. His first big break came in 1978 playing John Lennon in Beatlemania, first as an understudy in New York, then in the West Coast company and the national touring company. He settled in New York City, enthralled by its diverse musical culture, and formed a rock ‘n’ roll band with his brother Robert on drums and Chris Donato on bass.

He recorded his debut single Something’s Gonna Happen at nearly the same time as legendary rockabilly singer Robert Gordon’s recording of Marshall’s Someday Someway was released as a single by RCA. These two records simultaneously broke big on New York’s WNEW-FM, causing Marshall and his trio’s local popularity to explode.

And so began a career that’s spanned four decades, 13 albums, Grammy and Golden Globe nominations, film and TV appearances (Buddy Holly in La Bamba) and thousands of live performances.

Marshall Crenshaw’s musical output has maintained a consistent fidelity to the qualities of artfulness, craftsmanship and passion. His efforts have been rewarded with the devotion of a broad and loyal fan base. Along with touring the country and the occasional recording session, other current projects include producing a documentary film about legendary record producer Tom Wilson.

“This is a road that I’d never imagined taking before, but it’s been an incredible learning experience,” says Crenshaw.
