Road to Roots featuring Melody Trucks
Bringing the magic of Roots Rock Revival to the road that goes on forever. Melody Trucks has taken the vision of her Dad’s (Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band) Music Masters camp, Roots Rock Revival, and moved it to the road. She is a percussionist and vocalist who is partnering with young musicians and is mentoring them in the ways of the music industry, while giving them a larger stage to showcase their talents. Melody has a deep understanding of how the music industry can underestimate the talents of the young. Road to Roots showcases these musicians with a mixture of music from her own musical history and her family’s legacy, while also letting them present their own original voices.
Matt O’Ree Band
Former guitarist for Bon Jovi, NY/NJ Blues Hall of Fame inductee, and crowned King Of The Blues by BB King himself, Matt O’Ree has been a driving force in the blues/rock music scene for the last twenty years. Garnering the attention of artists like Bruce Springsteen, David Bryan (Bon Jovi), Steve Cropper (Booker T & the MG’s), John Popper (Blues Traveler), Bernie Worell (P-Funk), and Hubert Sumlin (Howlin Wolf), all of whom had volunteered to perform on the band’s album, Brotherhood. The newest addition to the band, Eryn, an accomplished artist and songwriter in her own right, won awards such as the BELK Southern Musician Blues Showcase beating out thousands of competitors. She is the youngest artist to be inducted into the NJ/NY Blues Hall of Fame and has performed or opened for artists such as Don McLean, Gregg Allman, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Dr. John, Shemekia Copeland, The Gin Blossoms, Little River Band, Marcia Ball, Walter Wolfman Washington, Eric Lindell, Sonny Landreth, The Radiators, Johnny A and so many more. Combined this landed her a gig singing backup vocals with the Smashing Pumpkins on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Matt and Eryn joined forces about 3 years ago and began defining an original vintage-style rock n’ roll sound. They began touring nationally and internationally to rave fan reviews, oh yeah, and not to mention they are also married. Coined NJ’s favorite rock power couple, they and the band take their fans on a ride that hasn’t been heard or seen at this level since the ’70s. Their live show is like revisiting a Zeppelin concert at the Garden, and with Lex Lehman’s smooth soulful bass, John Hummel’s Bonham-esque drums, and Eryn and Layonne’s angelic and gutsy lead and backing vocals, combined with Matt’s blistering guitar, Matt and company have built a foundation that can hold up the biggest house on the block.
Ryan Gregg
Red Bank native Ryan Gregg in his own words: Trying to make as much cool stuff with as many cool people as I can. Collaboration over competition. We all rise together. Have written and produced songs for puppets, cartoons, and humans on occasion. Work featured on Comedy Central, PBS and more. Pleasure to have shared the stage on piano, keys, and organ with Eric Lindell, Dana Fuchs, J.T. Bowen, Roosevelt Collier, Oteil Burbridge, The Lee Boys, Scott Sharrard, “Stormin” Norman Seldin, The Ocean Avenue Stompers, Melody Trucks, Soul Project Nola, Uncle Scotchy & Juke, Des & the Swagmatics, Jet Weston & the Atomic Ranch Hands, Matt O’Ree, Arlan Feiles, The Black Flamingos, The Billy Walton Band, and many others. Always down for a conversation. Let’s hang.
Des and the Swagmatics
Des and the Swagmatics is an Asbury Park based five-piece band on a mission to get your booty shakin’ by any means necessary! Hey Y’all Derek Here, I have some rather unfortunate news to relay. Last month I caught pneumonia and was sick as a dog but figured I would be well over it by the time tour starts. Turns out I coughed so hard I tore my vocal cord and will need to take some time for my voice to heal. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make the shows at the end of July and beginning of August. I’m sorry to disappoint. I hope you can understand and I look forward to making it up as soon as im able to. Thank you for understanding and I look forward to seeing you on the flipside. Derek

STEELY DEAD
Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Denver, Colorado, Steely Dead is a national touring band that has satisfied the curiosity of music lovers with their unique blend of Grateful Dead and Steely Dan. Comprised of four exceptionally talented musicians – Dave Abear on guitar, Matt Abear on bass, Chris Sheldon on drums, and Dylan Teifer on keys – Steely Dead has gained a dedicated following with their electrifying performances and soulful interpretations of classic tunes.
Steely Dead’s repertoire is a carefully crafted fusion of Grateful Dead and Steely Dan songs, between the arrangement and precision studio recordings of rock legends Steely Dan, cross-pollinated with the Grateful Dead’s free-flowing, melodic improvisation and masterful song segues. Steely Dead merges these major concepts together infusing the influence into each band, all the while creating an original jam element with the song segues. Steely Dead’s performances are a musical journey that takes audiences on a nostalgic trip through the golden era of rock and roll.

Adam Ezra Group
Working outside the confines of the traditional music industry, Adam Ezra and his bandmates – Corinna Smith (fiddle), Alex Martin (drums), Poche Ponce (bass) – built a community of fans through sheer grit and determination, regularly performing hundreds of shows a year for the past two decades without any major label or mainstream radio support. Fusing folk intimacy and rock energy with soul power and pop charm, the band first emerged from Boston in the early 2000s and quickly garnered widespread acclaim for their bold, insightful songwriting and interactive, euphoric performances. From hole in the wall bars and house concerts to sold-out headline shows and dates with the likes of Little Big Town, The Wallflowers, Gavin DeGraw, Train, and The Wailers, Ezra and his bandmates treated every single gig like their last, attracting a die-hard following that believed not just in the music, but in their commitment to activism and social change, as well.
After their tour was cancelled at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ezra brought the show online to continue this commitment and created The Gathering Series which to-date has reached a cumulative audience of 15 million viewers. The bands ongoing daily livestreams since March of 2020 stands as a testament not only to Ezra’s artistic endurance, but also his ability to connect with viewers and provide an accepting and supportive space for newcomers to join his tight-knit community of fans. Through his own experience with COVID, his move across the country, and even his wedding day, Ezra has broadcasted without fail from wherever he found himself each night at 7pm Eastern. In addition to bringing The Gathering Series to the real world as they performed nearly 50 safe, socially distanced shows in parks and backyards around the United States to bring light to fans through music, the band didn’t stop there. Their homegrown festival, The Ramble, hosted by RallySound, raises money and marshals resources to help homeless veterans find safe and dignified housing for the last ten years. While the band was unable to bring the festival to fans live in the year of COVID, they instead incorporated it into The Gathering Series and hosted a 24-hour, nonstop livestream where they raised enough money to help house 64 veterans.
The Adam Ezra Group hit their 500th Live stream show on July 25th, 2021. They have also played an additional 50 backyard socially distanced shows, and are starting to tour heavily again in traditional and outdoor venues. As if this wasn’t enough to keep them busy, the band also embarked on an ambitious new recording series dubbed ‘The Album Project’ which will see the band releasing at least 19 new singles over the next few years. What comes next for the Adam Ezra Group? The future is anyone’s guess right now, and the only thing the Adam Ezra Group knows for sure, is they’ll be out there making music however and whenever they can.

Shallow Alcove is a band of friends fronted by Grace Krichbaum and Dan Harris, with Peter Groppe, Jack Harrington, and Noah Dadaris. They combine stacked vocal harmonies, catchy guitar riffs, and diary-like lyrics to form a tender soundtrack to young adulthood. Shallow Alcove’s music is based in their love of DIY folk music and colored with narratives of friendship, the changing of the seasons, bad haircuts, and the ache of growing up. What started as friends writing songs in the bedrooms and basements of Upstate New York has since shifted to the apartments and studios of New York City and Philadelphia, but Shallow Alcove’s roots have remained the same: story-telling with the people they love.

The Chase Brothers are the prolific music directors behind Jazz Is Phsh.
Growing up in Baltimore MD, the two brothers began making a name for themselves when they were teenagers while building a fanbase around their original music. By the time The Chase Brothers were in their twenties, the two had collectively shared the stage with Santana, Aerosmith, Kiss, Crosby Still & Nash, OAR, Derek Trucks, Victor Wooten, Oteil Burbridge & many other great artists.
While the brothers turned their attention to songwriting and music directing, the duo launched a series of high caliber, collaborative projects that include Jazz Is Phsh, The James Brown Dance Party, A Family Affair and The DAB Sessions.
The epic collaborations that Adam and Matthew organize have created a connection for music fans of multiple musical genres that bridge musical communities together.
With their unique tribute to Phish, The Chase Brothers have brought a fresh take on the music of Phish to some of the best musicians in the world and created a platform for Phish fans to experience their favorite music through the eyes of jazz musicians.

JAMES MADDOCK & BAND
JAMES MADDOCK’s status as a fixture on the Folk and Americana scene is confirmed with every listen of any song in his prodigious catalog. Relix Magazine put it this way: “James Maddock possesses the kind of lived-in craggy voice that would sound authoritative if he were singing the sports pages. Fortunately, he doesn’t need to do that because his compositional skills are a match for his delivery.”
After fronting the Columbia Records band Wood, whose debut Songs From Stamford Hill was featured prominently on TV shows such as “Dawson’s Creek,” Maddock moved from England to New York City in 2003. His 2009 album Sunrise On Avenue C won a New York Music Award for Best Americana Album, while the follow-up Wake Up And Dream ranked among the top albums of 2011 in WFUV’s (NYC) Listener Poll. With the release of Another Life (2013) and The Green (2015) Maddock continued to demonstrate why many consider him to be one of the best singer/songwriters working today. He has performed with Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nile, Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors) and David Immergluck (Counting Crows). According to radio legend Vin Scelsa, Maddock’s “heartbreakingly beautiful and exquisitely crafted” music “touches the soul.” As a songwriter, James recently had three songs co-written with Mike Scott on the new Waterboys album Modern Blues (which appeared in the Top 50 on the UK Albums Chart), a co-write with Gary Barlow (“Actress”) on Barlow’s new album (2X Platinum), as well as a cut (“Fragile”) on the Dirt On My Tongue album by emerging UK artist Jo Harman. Songs from Another Life have been featured on NBC’s Parenthood and ABC Family’s Switched at Birth. Maddock is a constant live presence in the U.S. and Europe.
Maddock’s latest album, Little Bird in the Neighbourhood, harks back to the acoustic approach of Another Life. With some old and some new musical collaborators (Aaron Comess on drums, Ben Rubin on upright bass, Brian Mitchell on accordion and piano, Scott Sharrard on guitar, Ben Stivers on piano and keys, Craig Dryer on flute, and David Immergluck on guitar) Maddock has delivered another exquisite collection of musical vignettes. Little Bird in the Neighbourhood is available where music is consumed.

Evolution. It’s what keeps the best bands afloat — song after song, show after show, record after record.
Mike Harmeier was still in his early 20s when he formed Mike and the Moonpies. From the start, they were the definition of a workingman’s country band, cutting their teeth with five-hour sets on Austin’s dancehall circuit before spreading their music to the rest of America. By the early 2020s, they’d become global ambassadors of homegrown Texas music, flying their flag everywhere from Abbey Road Studios (where they recorded 2019’s Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold with help from the London Symphony Orchestra) to the Grand Ole Opry.
The growth was remarkable, but all that momentum left Harmeier and his four bandmates — drummer Taylor Englert, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, bassist Omar Oyoque, and steel guitarist Zachary Moulton — looking for something new. After all, their music had decidedly changed. Why shouldn’t their name do the same?
Silverada marks a new chapter in the band’s history. It’s not just the title of the boldest release of the group’s critically-acclaimed career; it’s also the name of the reinvigorated band itself.
“Back in the day, all we wanted to do was play the Broken Spoke,” says Harmeier, nodding to the hometown honky-tonk in Austin, TX, where Silverada began sowing the seeds for a sound that mixed timeless twang with modern-day dynamics. “We had different aspirations back then. We were still figuring out what kind of band we were gonna be, and that took a lot of time and a lot of records.”
A lot of records, indeed.
Silverada marks the group’s ninth release, and it balances the strengths they’ve accumulated along the way — sharp, detailed songwriting that bounces between autobiographical sketches and character studies; gorgeous swells of pedal steel that drift through the songs like weather; a rhythm section capable of country shuffles, hard-charging rock & roll tempos, and everything in between — with a willingness to break old rules and open new doors.
“Going into the studio, everybody in the band felt inspired to do something bigger than what they’d done before,” Harmeier explains. “We all knew we were at a precipice, and we wanted to jump. I brought in some songs that were metaphorical and not always straightforward, and that showed the guys that I wanted to take this music somewhere new… so they threw their own rulebooks out the window, too.”
There’s a smart sense of history here — a celebration not only of where the band is headed, where they’ve been, too. Even so, Silverada doesn’t spend much time looking in the rearview mirror. Instead, it keeps its gaze focused on the road ahead. This is a snapshot of a band in motion, chasing down the next horizon, writing the soundtrack to some new discovery. It’s the sound of alchemy, of some new metal being forged. And like silver itself, Silverada shines brightly.
“We spent the first part of our career figuring out who we are and what we’re good at,” says Harmeier. “Now we want to evolve not only the sound of the band, but the dynamic of the live show, too. We’re all lifers here. We’re in this for the long haul. Silverada is us setting the stage for the next leg of the journey.”

HUNTER ROOT
with Jackson Pines
Few artists embody the spirit of creative exploration as seamlessly as Pennsylvania-based multi-instrumentalist Hunter Root. His journey is a tale of passion and resilience, and his success is a testament to his intuition and his unique musical vision.
Raised in an environment steeped in classic rock, Hunter’s musical foundation was built alongside his older brother who introduced him to guitar, and opened his eyes to the power of songwriting. As a founding member of the psychedelic rock outfit Medusa’s Disco, Hunter honed his skills on stage, and gained invaluable insight into the labyrinthine workings of the music industry.
Embracing a genre-fluid approach, Hunter’s music weaves together elements of acoustic rock, folk, grunge, and more. His approach to songwriting has evolved over the years, shifting from a lyric-centric process to a music-first methodology. This shift has allowed Hunter to match emotive soundscapes with the narrative potency of his songs, yielding compositions rich in both meaning and emotion. He employs a similarly immersive approach to music production. He writes, records, mixes, and produces all his albums, an uncompromising process that is both demanding and gratifying.
Hunter’s personal experiences heavily influence his music. His acclaimed 2023 album, ‘Arkansas,’ was created as a tribute following the passing of his older brother in 2020, beautifully encapsulating his introspection. Despite calling Central Pennsylvania home, the four years he spent in Arkansas during his youth had a profound impact on his artistry. Consequently, each song is a deeply personal narrative, an homage to the sights, sounds, aches, and scars found there.
Hunter’s music achieved viral success through TikTok and Instagram, where his songs ‘Town Rat Heathen’ and ‘Quicksand Sinking’ struck a chord with users worldwide. He swiftly accumulated hundreds of thousands of followers across both platforms, inevitably driving traffic to Spotify, where his singles have garnered millions of plays.
2024 will see Hunter continue to build on his momentum, as he plans an extensive series of tour dates accompanied by his live band.

Surf Haven: Indie pop/surf rock band from Ocean County, NJ
Jwalttz, a DIY indie rock band hailing from Asbury Park, effortlessly merges the sun-soaked tones of surf rock with infectious, feel-good riffs reminiscent of post-DeMarco indie charm. Jwalttz delivers a captivating blend of danceable tempos and upbeat synthesizers. Their music evokes the essence of carefree summers spent by the shore, where each track serves as a nostalgic ode to New Jersey.
Lightheaded are, simply, a great pop group. Their songs are full of melody and harmony, are bittersweet and memorable, familiar yet original. Their sound is a perfect mix of jangling guitars — featuring Sara Abdlebarry’s exquisite, tasteful, but punchy Gretsch lead played over Stephen Stec’s Rickenbacker chime — anchored to singer Cynthia Rickenbach’s Hofner Violin bass, which sounds like the bass on Michel Polnareff’s first LP.
Cynthia and Stephen write pop songs in the classic sense, and though they are young they’re already familiar with the good stuff. Cynthia wears a Gene Clark tee shirt and is a fan of Dusty Springfield, The Aislers Set, and Joan Jett. Stephen worships at the altar of Big Star, The Clientele, and The Go-Betweens. As with bands like The Aislers Set and Belle & Sebastian, you hear an aural kaleidoscope, the history pop music and the best rock and roll, in the music of Lightheaded.
partygirl is an imaginative, maximalist, feminist rock band based in Brooklyn. The band is formed by Pagona Kytzidis (songwriting/lead vocals/rhythm guitar/keyboards), Francesca Pastore (production/lead guitar), Claire Lin Jenkins (orchestral arrangements/violin/backing vocals), Jonathan Ashley (drums/percussion), Andrew Jordan (bass), and Jenna Love (alto saxophone).
Through creating unique and forward-looking music, partygirl centers intentional and creative storytelling through progressive, genre-bending song composition and lyrics that combine feminist praxis, emotional rawness, and dark comedy. Since early 2023, the band’s energetic and emotional shows have stormed the stages of venues across in New York City and the Northeast, including Baby’s All Right, the Sultan Room, Brooklyn Made, Union Pool, and Mercury Lounge, to name a few. Their highly-anticipated debut full-length project, I’m So Charming, I Forgot Who I Was, is set to release in Fall 2024.

No One Gets Out Alive Tour
with Hunter Root
Hailed for her “multi-genre talents” by Billboard and deemed a “star” by Rolling Stone, acclaimed singer-songwriter Maggie Rose has released her ambitious new album No One Gets Out Alive. Hearkening back to early ’70s Laurel Canyon, the music deals in both dark and uplifting themes- disillusionment in relationships, ageism, female empowerment and living in the moment, among them, with Maggie’s big, soulful voice taking centerstage. Maggie successfully straddles the worlds of pop, rock, soul, Americana and folk, unencumbered by genre specifics. Recorded with a dream team including members of Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit, Alabama Shakes and Gregg Allman’s band, the record was produced by GRAMMY-Award winner Ben Tanner, mixed by Bobby Holland and arranged by conductor Don Hart (Phish, Lyle Lovett). A respected fixture of the Nashville community, Maggie has played the iconic Grand Ole Opry over 100 times and marquee festivals including Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, and Newport Folk Fest. A true road warrior, she has shared the stage with the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Heart, Joan Jett, Eric Church, Gov’t Mule, The Mavericks, Fitz & The Tantrums, St. Paul & The Broken Bones and The Revivalists among others.

An Evening with God Street Wine
Doors 7:00 pm
Showtime 8:00pm
Formed in 1988 by Lo Faber, Aaron Maxwell, Dan Pifer, Jon Bevo, and Tom Osander, God Street Wine played a prominent role in the early jam band scene alongside fellow New Yorkers Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors. Veterans of the HORDE Tour as well as runs with The Allman Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and The Black Crowes, they also released 5 albums and performed more than 1,000 shows across the United States in their first decade together.
In 1999 the band split up after playing a three night farewell engagement at the Wetlands Preserve in NYC. Selected performances from these final shows were compiled into the posthumous live album “Good To the Last Drop”.
After almost a decade apart, GSW reunited privately in 2009 to honor the passing of an old friend and a year later played four concerts in NYC benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Infrequent but memorable gatherings continued at Bob Weir’s TRI Studios, Sweetwater Music Hall, rambles with Phil Lesh at Terrapin Crossroads and Jam Cruise. In 2013 they released a 25th anniversary box set retrospective and the documentary film All The Way To Here. Several years later the band ‑ now spread out across the globe in New York, New Orleans and Berlin ‑ started collaborating on new studio tracks which led to eight new single releases in 2017-18 and the full length album This Fine Town in 2019.
After eight shows in summer 2019, other projects and commitments brought the band to another hiatus – a break that ended up longer than expected due to the Covid pandemic. After four years apart, GSW got together again in 2023 with two New York area shows to benefit MS4MS (Mission Stadiums for Multiple Sclerosis).
2024 brings more activity for GSW! On top of marking the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1st major label release, $1.99 Romances, and digitally releasing the long-lost Hot Sweet & Juicy, the band is also releasing 3 albums from their catalog (Bag, $1.99 Romances, Hot Sweet & Juicy) on vinyl for the first time. This will all culminate with the original fivesome performing together again with four New York area shows!
