Asbury Park 78th Easter Pageant Welcomes
Sesame Street “Susan” Dr. Loretta Long
Dr. Loretta Long of Sesame Street fame joins Judges: Mayor Ed Johnson, Deputy Mayor John M. Loffredo, and Unique Women Show host and journalist Puff Smith for the 78th Asbury Park Easter Pageant Parade, Paramount Theater, 1300 Ocean and Fifth Avenues, Sunday, March 31, 2013, 1:00 PM.
Dr. Long is best known for the role she created as Susan on Sesame Street; on which she appeared for over thirty-one years. She has toured all over the United States as a motivational, keynote speaker and educator. Dr. Long is also well known for Broadway shows such as, Guys and Dolls, and Sweet Charity, and in such films as Cotton Comes to Harlem, Husbands and the Out of Towners. Dr. Long is currently writing a new book compiling stores from her “children” who grow up watching Sesame Street. “I am excited to join the cast of those working hard to bring the Jersey Shore back after the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy. The Easter Pageant is an event which proves the resolve and commitment of our shore communities to get back on track and I am proud to be a part of that effort.” Dr. Long said.
Event planner Dina Todd said, "We are all working hard to let the public know that Asbury Park's boardwalk will not only be completely open for business this summer, but that several business along the waterfront such as Stella Marina, Cubacan, Tim McLoone's Supper Club and Asbury Grille, Watermark and the Silverball Pinball Museum have already reopened their doors to patrons in the wake of Sandy. The Asbury Park Easter Pageant kicks off the 2013 events for the City. Sponsors include Madison Marquette for the use of the iconic Paramount Theatre for the pageant, McDonalds of Asbury Park has sponsored the trophies for the event along with other Greater Asbury Park restaurants and businesses have provided gifts and prizes for the winners this year."
The 78th Annual Easter Pageant Parade begins at 1:00PM on the boardwalk, on the North side of the Convention Hall and finishes by 4:00PM. The coordinators are counting on colorful outfits, bright smiles and flowered bonnets to make the Seventy-eighth, Easter Pageant Parade another great event.
