XTERRA Wetsuit METROMAN Triathlon Receives Championship Status

The XTERRA Wetsuit METROMAN Triathlon was just honored by the USA Triathlon Association and given both the Mid-Atlantic Region Youth Championship and Short Course Championship Status. METROMAN Triathlon is now the only way for athletes in the Mid-Atlantic Region to qualify for the National Triathlon Championship events. The METROMAN Triathlon event was chosen over hundreds of events in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Mid-Atlantic Region includes: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland and North Carolina. Sunset Racing is extremely excited about the designation of the event. The Championship Status will certainly add to the growth of the event. In 2010 the XTERRA Wetsuit Metroman Triathlon is expected to draw 1000 athletes and thousands of spectators to the famous Asbury Park Boardwalk.
Sunset Racing is also excited to announce that XTERRA Wetsuits, the industry leader in racing wetsuits, has purchased the naming rights for the event for 2010. In addition to the race on Sunday July 18th the event will be hosting the XTERRA Practice Swim and swim clinics on July 17th. The event will be hosted by professional triathletes, professional coaches and XTERRA Wetsuits. The event will also host an endurance sports expo on site during the race weekend as well.
This will be the third year the METROMAN Triathlon has been hosted by the City of Asbury Park and the race date has been confirmed in Asbury Park for the next 5 years.
