SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS ASBURY PARK EASTER PAGEANT
ASBURY PARK, NJ—The City of Asbury Park, local businesses and organizations are busy preparing a fun filled, family weekend to celebrate the 75th Asbury Park Easter Pageant Parade, April 4, 2010.
The Easter Pageant event has been extended to three exciting days, April 2nd, through 4th. Celebrations start Good Friday morning, April 2nd with a three day Carnival, Atlantic Park, Ocean and Fifth Avenues and a Mini Gospel Concert later on that evening 6:00 PM in the Paramount Theater. The concert is hosted by Triumphant Life Church and “special guests”. Saturday, April 3rd, parents can bring the kids, ages 3 – 12 years, down to Ocean and Fifth Avenues for another day of carnival games and rides and an Easter Egg Hunt. The egg hunt begins at 1:00 PM and is sponsored by Cliffhanger Productions and Triumphant Life Church. Sunday, April 4th, a special category has been added to the pageant. Have you ever wondered what it was like to take in ocean breezes, promenade the boardwalk in flowing skits and parasols, top hats and gloves? Well, here is your chance to find out. The Pageant has added Circa 1900 Costumes to Best Dressed men, women, boys, girls, families and most unusual bonnets categories in celebration of its 75th anniversary. There will be fun for the young and young at heart.
Easter Pageant Judges are Mayor Ed Johnson, Deputy Mayor John Loffredo, Puff Smith and Cindi D’Onofrio. Everyone is welcomed. No pre-registration required.
The event promoters are looking for previous Easter Pageant winners and memorabilia to help present gifts and a special photo opportunity.
Gifts and prizes await lucky pageant winners ranging from US Savings Bonds, Blue Claws game tickets, and gift certificates from the greater Asbury Park businesses and restaurants. For additional information please call 732-502-5752.
